ISI is the system integrator of the Global Personnel Recovery System (GPRS), a space-based search and rescue system under implementation by the JPRA as part of an Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration for the US Department of Defense. ISI is responsible for developing and deploying the GPRS. We have developed the architecture, design, user equipment, operating network, and operational demonstrations.
The GPRS search and rescue system uses a combination of commercial and military satellites to relay distress signals from maritime, aviation and land-based beacons. A number of ground stations will process, locate and distribute information concerning those signals to appropriate rescue organizations. The integrated GPRS supports the goals of the IMO and ICAO.
