Innovative Solutions International (ISI) is a small business engineering and consulting firm specializing in aviation-related satellite technologies. Founded in 1994, ISI started as a prime contractor to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), designing augmentations of the Global Positioning System (GPS) for civil aviation use. Our design of the initial architecture and requirements set for the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and the Local Area Augmentation System (LAAS) was critical to the technical foundation of the program within the FAA and to gaining international acceptance of the technology for use in the civil aviation arena. In 2001, we became system integrator on the Global Personnel Recovery Service (GPRS) program, bringing the next-generation search-and-rescue capability through the Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration program and into implementation during Operation Iraqi Freedom. On January 5, 2011, Pragmatics, Inc. completed the acquisition of ISI, which will operate as a wholly owned Pragmatics subsidiary.
ISI's ongoing programs provide operational and technical support to the FAA in the implementation of the GPS WAAS, LAAS, satellite navigation and criteria development. We continue to develop the GPRS program for the Department of Defense, and its sister civil application the Distress Alerting Satellite System (DASS) for NASA and the international search and rescue community. We also support research programs in the Department of Transportation.
In addition, we use our expertise in satellite-based technologies to support modernization programs and aviation across the globe. |
