| Hardware Engineering |
Hardware engineering is literally the nuts and bolts of new technology. As part of an integrated process team, our hardware engineers identify system requirements that are unique to specific hardware. We ensure that the hardware selected satisfies both individual hardware requirements and operates as a system to satisfy the overall system objectives.
On our GPSTAC contract, ISI hardware engineers detail hardware design:
- We consider maintenance and human factors (user habits) in layouts of racks and enclosures
- We design internal and external cabling and signal distribution
- We design power and grounding systems
- We prepare individual hardware specifications for components and procurement specifications from whole systems
- We incorporate the FAA specifications FAA-G-2100 (U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration Specification Electronic Equipment, General Requirements) for the design and installation of hardware
In addition to design, ISI prepares system block diagrams, assembly drawings and parts lists. We prepare and present material at design reviews on the design of the system. We administer vendor contracts on the preparation of drawings and fabrication of special mechanical parts and cables. We document the requirements traceability from the Government specifications to the hardware and software specifications. |
