MCLEAN, VA., Mar 9, 2009 – Innovative Solutions International, Inc. (ISI) has been awarded a contract to develop an Operational Safety Assessment for an application that detects and displays Runway Surface Indications and Alerts to 1) increase pilot awareness of runway safety-relevant information, 2) increase the likelihood that runway safety-relevant traffic information is appropriately and correctly processed, and 3) facilitate an appropriate response once an error has occurred.  The application will use the new FAA Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) system in conjunction with a future cockpit display of traffic information (CDTI). 

Bob Loh, ISI's President and CEO, explains: "Decreasing runway incursions is a major safety program for the FAA as recommended by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and a key feature of the future US Next Generation (NextGen) Air Traffic Control (ATC) system.
